Jefferies, Cyrus share coach honors

The two head coaches who this year led their teams to the DCIAA varsity football championship game have been named to share honors as "Coach of the Year" by both The Common Denominator and their peers in the D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The Dunbar Crimson Tide's Craig Jefferies, whose team won the 2003 football title at the Turkey Bowl, and the Ballou Knights' Noel Cyrus were both presented with "DCIAA Varsity Foiotball Coach of the Year" plaques by Common Denominator Editor and Publisher Kathrn M. Sinzinger at the conclusion of the championship game on Nov. 27.

Cyrus and Jefferies both led their teams to 4-0 league records and division championships this season. Dunbar won the Turkey Bowl, 33-20.
