Observations about
public affairs in the nation’s capital
by the editor of The Common Denominator
NOT OUT OF THE WOODS: This issue of The Common Denominator represents only a reprieve, as the paper's financial difficulties continue and threaten publication of our scheduled Nov. 15 print edition. (Our printer has demanded payment of our past-due account balance to continue printing the paper.)
The outpouring of support for The Common Denominator's continued publication has been significant and sincerely appreciated, in response to our editorial in the Oct. 18 issue revealing our plight. Financial support in the form of subscriptions and advertisements has begun trickling in.
However, in order to survive on a long-term basis, The Common Denominator needs to retire its aging debts on a fairly short-term basis (i.e., we need some quick cash) and to establish a solid financial foundation. Many readers have asked how they can help. Here are some of our needs:
